Cure Kids Ventures
Cure Kids Ventures Ltd is the separate investment entity of leading childhood health research charity Cure Kids, an organisation established over 30 years ago to address the lack of research into life-threatening childhood illnesses in New Zealand. Since then, Cure Kids have invested over $19 million in medical research.
Enterprise Angels is Bay of Plenty-based angel investment group established in 2007 with nearly 50 active investors who invest money, time, experience, contacts and expertise. its members represent some of the most experienced business people in the region. One of Enterprise Angels key roles is investor education. Enterprise Angels is a member of the Angel Association of New Zealand.
ICE Angels is a large Auckland angel investing network and has been in operation since December 2003. The ICE Angels are a network of private angel investors brought together by The ICEHOUSE (the business incubator associated with the University of Auckland) to facilitate investment in early stage companies.
Manawatu Investment Group
Manawatu Investment Group (MIG) is an angel investment group managed by The Bio Commerce Centre, a technology commercialisation centre in Palmerston North. MIG connects up and coming technology businesses with equity investment from experienced business operators.
Movac is an investment manager that backs New Zealand businesses with the potential for rapid and large-scale growth. The philosophy of the Movac Investor Group is to back high growth potential businesses that will provide the foundations for the next wave of prosperity for the New Zealand economy. Otago Angels (formerly Upstart Angels)
Otago Angels is a network of over 90 angel investors, primarily based in Otago and Southland, who seek high-growth investment opportunities, typically with global growth aspirations. Preference is given to projects from the Otago-Southland area. Otago Angels is managed from the Otago Business Incubator in Dunedin.
Pacific Channel is a venture development and investment company, specialising in life science-based industries. It was formed to provide a channel to the resources of the USA; the largest market for biotechnology-based products.
Powerhouse is an angel investment group established to make investments in early stage Canterbury companies. The group specialises in seed and start-up investments in technology companies, concentrating primarily on companies and investors from Canterbury. However, investment opportunities from outside the region are considered on a case by case basis.
Sparkbox is an Auckland-based early stage investor focused on commercialising leading edge technology primarily in the ICT sector. New Zealand’s first professional private angel company, Sparkbox was founded in 2001 to supply start-ups with the capital and skills required to succeed.
Trans Tasman Commercialisation Fund
The TTCF is a collaboration between leading universities across South Eastern Australia and New Zealand, and a capital provider – Westscheme, Western Australia’s largest non-government Superannuation Fund. These parties have been brought together through the common goal of generating enhanced returns through investment in the commercial applications of research excellence. TTCF aims to invest seed stage capital into early commercial research projects and spinout companies generated by member universities and across all sectors.
Venture Accelerator Ltd
Venture Accelerator Ltd is an angel group located at the ‘Top of the South’ Island. It developed out of a 2005 initiative of the Nelson Regional Economic Development Agency, in conjunction with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, to provide the region’s businesses with the opportunity to network with potential investors in the region to help achieve the aim of growing smart value added industries and enhancing the skill base of the region’s labour force.
